Colombo FC’s star player Zarwan Johar has been suspended for two matches after being found guilty of an offensive act during the Colombo FC v Crystal Palace FC match.
The complaint was lodged by Crystal Palace FC at the end the match, saying that Zarwan provoked the opposition team bench after he scored the 3rd and winning goal deep into injury time for Colombo FC.
The statement goes onto say;
“The committee inquired about the above incident and analyzed the evidence including the video footage. Zarwan Johar was found guilty with an act of provoking the team bench of his opponents, after he scored the 3rd goal for Colombo FC.
Zarwan Johar, a player of Colombo FC is suspended for immediate matches of DCL 2016 from 13th July 2016 and he is served with a six month probationary period in which if he found guilty of any misconduct/s he shall be sanctioned with severe punishment.”
Zarwan has already sat out the Matara City match and he will only have to miss the next one this weekend against Up Country Lions on the 31st of July.
There was also an allegation made by Crystal Palace FC coach S.A. Weerasinghe saying that Zarwan had struck him.
“During that goal celebration infront of our bench their No.10 (Zarwan Johar) came and hit me. It is not the way to behave,” he told ThePapare.com after the match.
Zarwan had this to say;
“I didn’t hit anyone, I just went there and celebrated in front of them. When I did that I was pulled away, so inadvertently someone else’s hand might have hit him.”
