Dinesh Deshappriya intensifies Sri Lanka’s position on the map with a bronze medal performance at the Chinese Taipei 2019 Asia Para TT championship, held in Taichung Chinese Taipei.

Dinesh Participated in the Championship representing the class category 9, which means two Knee Injuries and playing arm injury. He is an old boy and a proud product of Isipathana College.

63rd Mercantile Open Table Tennis Championship 2019 comes to an end

Dinesh Deshppriya faced the opening fixture and won 3-0 against Indonesia. In the second fixture he lost 0-3 to Japan. This Group stage match was important for Dinesh to enter the quarter-final; He did well to stay in the game, beating Korea 3 – 0.

Playing the quarter final Dinesh Deshppriya was drawn against China. The Lankan found no threat against china beating him 3-0 and moved his way up to the semifinal. 

The semi final match ended in a thrilling 5 setter. Eventually, Deshappriya lost 3-2 to the world seed number 4, Koyo Lwabuchi, but his efforts won him the Bronze to finish the tournament off with.

Speaking to ThePapare.com Dinesh Deshappriya had this to say,

“Last year December I won the gold medal at the Thailand open Para TT Championships and Secured the 15th rank in this category. However, I could not get a lot of chances to play more ranking tournament due to financial issues. At this moment I managed to secure the 17th rank. The main target is to enter the top 16 ranking and take part in the world championships. So I have a good opportunity to achieve the target and I will never give up the game and I am waiting to continue for a long way and go ahead.”
