Sri Lanka registered a thrilling 6-run win over England in the third match of the Women’s U19 Tri-Nation Series 2024, which was played today (30th March) at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium.
After winning the toss, Sri Lanka Skipper Manudi Nanayakkara decided to bat first once again and they managed to put on a competitive total – 128/7 – on the board, courtesy of fine knocks from Nethmi Senarathne (51) and Manudi Nanayakkara (30).
Ava Lee was the pick of the bowlers for England as she snared 4 wickets for 19 runs. In reply, England posted only 122 runs for 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Shashini Gimhani was the standout performer with the ball for Sri Lanka as she grabbed 2 wickets for 12 runs in her 4-over spell.
This is the first time that the Sri Lanka Women’s U19 Team defeated England Women’s U19 Team in any format. Sri Lanka will meet Australia in their third game of the tournament on the 1st of April at the same venue.
