Sri Lanka registered a convincing win over England in the third ODI match of the Women’s U19 Tri-Nation Series 2024 played today (9th April) at Galle International Cricket Stadium.
After winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to bat first and posted 226 runs on the board on the back of a fine half-century from Rashmika Sewwandi.
Sewwandi stroked 59 runs off 58 balls with 9 fours while Sanjana Kavindi (27), Sumudu Nisansala (27), Manudi Nanayakkara (25) and Dewmi Wijerathna (25) contributed with useful knocks.
In reply, England were knocked over for just 118 runs as Sri Lanka produced a brilliant bowling performance. Chamodi Munasinghe was the pick of the bowlers for the islanders as she grabbed 5 wickets for 42 runs.
Wijerathna also impressed with the ball snaring 4 wickets for 43 runs. This is Sri Lanka’s first win against England in Women’s U19 ODI history.
