In the third game of the Women’s Super four 50 over tournament organised by Sri Lanka Cricket, the two teams who lost the first game SLC Greens and SLC Blues faced off searching for the first win of the tournament.
Greens won the toss and elected to bowl first which became a mastermind move as the Blues batters never looked settled in the middle facing some top-notch bowling by Nimasha Madushani. The crafty spinner who rattled the Blue’s batting order took 6 wickets for 13 runs as they were bundled out for just 91 runs. Only the opening batter for Blues Roshini Perera looked a bit comfortable while batting but she also could only score 26 runs after facing 51 deliveries. Sulesha Sathsarani who played the supporting role to Nimasha in the bowling front for Greens took 2 wickets.
Greens then made short work of this target as they chased it down inside 25 overs to boost their net run rate big time and have hopes of qualifying for the finals of the tournament. The opening batter for Greens the internationally experienced Hasini Perera scored an unbeaten 35 to marshal this small chase and her opening partner Kushanthi Liyanage also scored 21 as the pair put together a 57-run stand.
In the fourth encounter of the tournament, SLC Reds and SLC Greys who won their first games will battle it out as only one unbeaten team will remain after the clash. This will take place on the 20th of November at the BRC grounds and it promises to be an interesting clash.
