On matchday 2 of the SLC Women’s Super 4 T20 tournament 2 clashes took place. One between SLC Greys and SLC Greens where the Greys walked out victorious and the other between SLC Reds and SLC Blues which got washed out due to rain just 2 deliveries before a D/L result was possible.

The encounter that produced a result on matchday 2 took place between Greys and Greens where Greys made it 2 out of 2 in the tournament with a convincing 26-run victory. Greens skipper Oshadhi Ranasinghe who won the toss invited Greys to bat first. Greys, who lost 2 wickets in the powerplay was under some pressure until a solid 3rd wicket partnership between Imalka Mendis and Hansima Karunaratne brought some life back into their innings. Karunaratne top-scored for Greys with a knock of 36 from 43 balls while Mendis scored 31 off 35. Then Kaushini Nuthyangana provided some momentum just at the end to push Greys over the 100-run mark as they ended with a total of 104 for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs. The highly experienced Udeshika Prabodhani was the pick of the bowlers for Greens with a 3-wicket haul giving away 15 runs and Nimesha Madubhashini took 2 for 18.

Chasing a target of 105 in 20 overs, Greens had a horrible start as half of their side was back in the pavilion with the score still on 20 after 7.2 overs. Sumudu Nisansala and Rashmi Silva, the only batters to reach the double-figure mark for Greens tried to bring them back into the game but too much damage was done in the first half of the innings for them to make a recovery. The duo put together 38 runs for the 7th wicket as Nisansala top scored with 21 and Silva made 20. At the end of their 20 overs, Greens could only make 78 for the loss of 9 wickets giving Greys a 26-run win. Inoshi Fernando who struck early to push Greens into the back foot ended the match with fabulous figures of 3 for 14 while Vihara Sewwandi and Tharushi Rajakaruna clinched 2 wickets each.

Sathya Sandeepani took 2 wickets for 22 runs for Blues while skipper Chamari Athapaththu bowled an economical spell conceding just 14 runs in her 4 overs after taking 1 wicket.

With a target of 110 required and dark clouds looming in, Blues came out all guns blazing hoping to finish the game as soon as possible with skipper Athapaththu punishing the Reds bowlers all around the park. But unfortunately for Blues, with just 2 balls left for a D/L result, rain spoiled the party for them and there was no chance to resume the game as the umpires decided to call the game off. When the game got abandoned Blues were on 34 after losing 1 wicket in 4.4 overs with Athapaththu scoring almost all the runs with 28 off 17.
