Air Force Sports Club were crowned the champions of Women’s Invitational Major Club Tournament 2023 as they beat Army Sports Club by 10 runs (DLS) in the Final played today (08th December) at BRC Grounds, Colombo.
Having won the toss, Army Sports Club opted to bat first and posted 154 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. National capped Nilakshi de Silva was the top scorer for Army SC as she made 72 runs off 105 balls with 4 fours and a six.

Oshadi Ranasinghe was the best bowler on show for Air Force Sports Club as she grabbed 3 wickets for 20 runs. Malsha Shehani and Inoshi Fernando also impressed with the ball, snaring 2 wickets each.

In reply, Air Force Sports Club posted 110 runs for 3 wickets before rain interrupted the play in the 38th over of the innings. Since the play did not resume thereafter, the match officials awarded the win to Air Force Sports Club as they were 10 runs ahead of DLS par score.
