Last year Navy beat Army 12 – 10 with a last minute try by former national women’s 7s captain Thanuja Weerakkodi. Thanuja has been fantastic for her club and country throughout her career, this team has pace, skills, power and experience players especially Randika Kumudumali, Gimhani de silva, Chanika Madumali, Sandika Hemakumari, Kumari Dilrukshi, Sandeepa Sandamali, Thilini Senanayake as they all toured for the Tusker Asian Sevens series last year.
Current captain of national 7s team Ayseha Perera is another extravagant player who plays for Army SC, Niranjala Wickramaratne, Madeeka Munasinghe has also represented in the Tuskers unit.
Although Sri Lanka women have done really well in the Asian circuit achieving from rank 13th to 5th ,this will be a very good opportunity for the young talents to showcase their skills and to add more spark in to the national team.
