JBL Karma Fight League 003 powered by Abans is just a few days away. On the 27th of July, 2024, in addition to the battle between Sri Lanka and India, the audience can also watch the 2nd round of the KFL Open Weight Championship introduced at KFL’s 2nd instalment, at The Taprobane, Colombo.
In the 1st round of the Open Weight Championship, 8 fighters clashed with each other, in 4 fights. Laksiri Silva, Sylvester Silva, Gihan “Sonic” Prasanna and Geogia’s Tazo Shubitidze, won their respective bouts to qualify for the 2nd round at KFL 003. Just as in the 1st round, the fighters will choose their opponents through a draw on the day of the fight night itself.
Among the fighters, Geogia’s Tazo Shubitidze has received a lot of attention. Tazo, a young fighter of only 20 years of age, defeated Malinda Amarasinghe in the first round, who is regarded as the most popular fighter in Sri Lanka. Taking full advantage of Malinda’s one mistake, Tazo secured a Knockout in the first round. Tazo showed that any fighter against him should come with great preparation. Since Tazo always seems to be one step ahead, we can’t wait to see what he has planned for KFL 003!
27-year-old Gihan Sonic Prasanna is a quiet and strategic fighter. Most people say that Sonic, with a wide range of experiences in Muay Thai, Wushu, and Jeet Kune Do, has not yet shown his true potential. So, on the 27th, maybe we can finally witness Sonic’s fierce Left Kicks and Upper Cuts.
Laksiri de Silva, who is a strong fighter from Kurunegala, showed how persistent he is in KFL 002. He is famous for tiring out his opponent until the last moment and launching a fierce attack as soon as his opponent has let his guard down. Let’s see how this signature style of Laksiri will play out in the KFL 003, at the 2nd round of the Open Weight Championship.
Sylvester Silva is another great fighter originating from Kurunegala. Sylvester and Laksiri are the same age and at 39 years old, these two have been training partners for a long time. If Laksiri and Sylvester, who are familiar with each other’s styles, meet in a showdown on the 27th, the audience will be able to watch a unique fight.
