Will Karachi Boat Club take the Title or will Colombo Hold ground?

This Saturday, Colombo will witness, what we hope will be the first of many encounters, and the beginning of a rich tradition.

The Karachi Boat Club, which dates back to 1881, is one of Pakistan’s oldest and most prestigious rowing establishments; it’s the centre of vibrant rowing in Pakistan. 

The Colombo Rowing club, which was founded in 1864, has been at the heart of competitive rowing in Sri Lanka. In celebration of the strong rapport between these two prominent institutions and the celebrations of fostering 150 years of rowing in the country, the Colombo Rowing Club will be hosting the inaugural Karachi-Colombo Regatta on the 31st of August. 

The Regatta will commence at 1.00pm at CRC, with Ms. Amna Baloach, Deputy Head of Mission, the High Commission of Pakistan, gracing the occasion as chief guest. 

Representing CRC are, Manilka Gunaratne, Shehan Muthugala, Sajeev De Silva, Sanjiva Jayasuriya, Peter Christy, Lasitha Madushan, Lashika Weerasinghe, Chamal Jayanetti, Zydhney Fazal, Subashini Kularatne, Ishika De Silva, Amani Tissera, Shiyanka De Zylva, Janethri Marapana, Samaakhya Gajanayake, Sanchia Supramaniam and Anisha Gunasekera. 

The Karachi Boat Club will be represented by Aleena Abid, Amin Khawaja, Salma Arif, Imran Khan, Manal Kamran, Faizan Rehan, Eman Siddiqui, Sultan Khawaja, Azeem Naeem Adamjee, Myra Nader Cowasjee , Hassan Currimbhoy and Zahra Currimbhoy

The Regatta will undoubtedly be an exciting experience as both crews vie for glory at this inaugural event.
