Former St. Joseph’s College, Sri Lanka Combined Schools and NCC cricketer Rohan Wijesinghe has entered a new venture with his maiden book, Legends of Cricket.
Wijesinghe started his cricketing career very early in life, coming under the tutelage of Major General Russel Heyn at the BRC nets at just 8 years of age.
From then onwards he scored very heavily in all grades of cricket, opening the batting for St Joseph’s College from the years 1973 to 1977, and was duly picked for the inaugural Ali Bhutto Trophy Sri Lankan Under 19 squad Under Anura Ranasinghe against Javed Miandad’s Pakistan both here and then in Pakistan.
Following a highly successful tour of Pakistan, he was picked for the Sri Lankan National squad of 14 under Anura Tennekoon to play Tony Greig’s England, aged 21 years of age.
He gave up the game early to concentrate on a career in Banking, both here and abroad, and having retired recently, holding the position of a Senior Bank Manager, Rohan took to his pet passion of journalism.

The legends featured have made many notable achievements and have both inspired and promoted Sri Lanka as a major cricketing nation, putting Sri Lanka on the world map. Also featured are a few international heavy weights who were ardent advocates of Sri Lankan Cricket, and profoundly respected friends of the Sri Lankan nation and its people.
