The President’s Gold Cup is hosted by the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation, and was worked off island wide, over a period of four months, attracting teams from over 300 Grama Seva divisions with the participation of over 2500 teams and consisting 40,000 players, in the largest sports tournament in the island.

Defending champions Wijaya SC, Koswadiya defeated Golden Birds SC, Radawana and Kapila SC, Siyambalagoda beat Casualline SC, Kurunegala in the semi-finals.

In the final group stage matches Wijaya SC and Casualline SC defeated Kapila SC and Golden Bird SC respectively. Wijaya SC won 25-21 & 25-20 against Kapila SC and Casualline SC won 25-9 & 25-8 against Golden Birds SC. This meant Wijaya SC meet Golden Birds SC and Kapila SC meet Casualline SC in the semi-finals.
Six time champions Wijaya SC comfortably beat 2015 finalists Golden Birds SC in straight sets 25-21, 25-16 & 25-20 in the semi-final.
The other semi-final went to 4 sets where Kapila SC won the 1st two sets 25-23 and 25-18. Casualline bounced back to win a close 3rd set 23-25. But, Kapila SC made sure they made it to the final winning the 4th set 25-20.
Golden Birds SC avenged their group stage loss with a 25-17 & 25-21 win against Casualline SC to finish in 3rd place.
U22 Women’s
Defending champions Casualline SC defeated Dharmapala SC, Eheliyagoda and Boyagama Siri Parakum SC, Galigamuwa defeated Vijayaba SC, Hungama in the semi-finals.

In the final group stage matches Siri Parakum SC beat Dharmapala SC 25-6 & 25-12 and Casualline SC won 25-6 & 25-10 against Vijayaba SC.
In the first semi-final Casualline SC defeated Dharmapala SC 25-12 & 25-8 while Siri Parakum SC easily beat Vijayaba SC 25-6 & 25-8 in the 2nd semi-final.
The 3rd place match was a close encounter where Vijayaba SC defeated Dharmapala SC in a thrilling 25-23 & 25-23.
