Royal College, Panadura piled more pressure on Wesley College as they beat Wesley in the first innings of their league game in the U19 Div 1 schools cricket season 2014/2015.
On a sunny day at Campbell Park, Royal College Panadura won the toss and elected to field first. The decision to field first paid off as Wesley could manage a dismal 105 runs for the first innings.
Wesley College got off to a reasonable start as the opening pair put up 33 runs for the first wicket. The next wicket fell when the score was 39, four more wickets fell when the score was 60 and 61 as Wesley Colleges’ top and middle order was destroyed by the Royal College bowling.
The tail-enders showed some resilience as they managed 43 runs and end the first innings with just 105 runs on board. Zenith Wickramanayake managed to score 31 runs while Hashan Chamara and Raveen Lakshan were the pick of the bowlers as they picked 3 and 2 wickets respectively.
In reply Royal College, Panadura declared with the score at 231 for five. Vimukthi Wimalasiri and Rusiru Ravishanka managed half centuries while Madurajith Dias scored 43 runs.
