The S. Thomas’ College bowlers were on fire today capturing 15 wickets with Skipper Madushan Ravichandrakumar grabbing eight.
Wesley College resuming day two on 41/3, were shot out for just 130 runs in reply of the Thomians 300 runs. Sachin Jayawardene was the top scorer for the visitors scoring 39 runs while Tharindu Karunatne ended with an unbeaten 30*.
The spinners dictated terms as skipper Madushan Ravichandrakumar together with left arm chinaman Ravindu Thilakaratne tore through the Wesley batting line up capturing 3 wickets each. At the lunch break Wesley College was looking down the barrel having 2 more sessions to spare and 10 wickets in hand, and the spirited Thomians raring to go.
Wesley managed to hold it together during the 2nd innings with the first innings top scorer Sachin Jayawardene continuing his form to score 48 runs. Basith Musamil failed to get to fifty as he was dismissed for 49 runs. The 2nd innings saw the Thomian skipper Ravichandrakumar at his peak capturing 5 wickets for 44 runs in 18 over’s. It was a good day at the office for the skipper as he ended with 8 wickets during the match.
