Wesley College Colombo have today announced the appointments of their Rugby Coaching Team.

Former Peterite skipper Bhanuka Nanayakkara (25) has been named..

Paul Toia has been appointed the Head coach of Wesley College, last season Paul Toia was appointed head midway through the season after a poor start to the season. Since his appointment Wesley has not looked back. They went from being 7th to finish 4th at the end of the season.

The New Zealander, Paul Toia, with playing experience in France, Australia and New Zealand comes to Sri Lanka after a decade of coaching rugby in Sydney, Australia.

Set Piece Coach; Dulanjana Wijesinghe will return for a second year, he is currently having an excellent start to the season along with the appointed Attack Coach; Rizah Mubarak. Both Mubarak and Wijesinghe are involved in the ongoing Club Rugby season. Rizah started off the season being the highest point’s scorer after game week 1 and Dulanjana Wijesinghe with ThePapare player of the match against Army SC last week.

Rizah Mubarak has been Sri Lanka’s most prolific point scorer for the past decade and was the highest point’s scorer of the Asian 5 Nations Tournament in 2009, 2012, 2013 and 2015. He was awarded Rugby Colours at school for three consecutive years while at Isipathana College.

Dulanjana Wijesinghe, was voted Most Popular Player in the Dialog Rugby League last season while playing for Navy and was also a prolific cricketer as a schoolboy captaining Wesley College 1st XI for two consecutive seasons.

After a promising 2017 season which saw Wesley College finish 4th in the Singer Schools Top division, regain the Sir Oliver Goonetilleke Shield but they lost the L. E. Blaze Trophy against their rivals Kingswood College up at Bogambara. The Double Blues will want to cement their spot as a top 4 rugby school. And build on the previous season and go on to end up even higher in the new season to come.

Wesley College Colombo currently has a growing rugby program that includes age group grades from 1st XV down to the U10 age group and proudly represents the Wesley College Community.
