Wales score a runaway 47-12 in their last group stage game, having a comfortable win over Sri Lanka.
Wales in their first ever match against Sri Lanka in a Seven’s World Series tournament made short work of their opponents running in seven tries. Sri Lanka having a dismal stage round had comfort in getting on the score board for the first time during the tournament.
The Welsh started with a strong first half performance running in 4 tries. 3 of the ensuing conversions being successful Wales went into the half at ease with a 26 nothing lead. Try scores for the Welsh were Will Thomas, Lee Williams and a Jason Harries double.
The Welshmen continued on with their onslaught in the second half with Luke Morgan going under the posts early in the half. With the conversion being successful Wales took the score line to 33-Nil.
The Tuskers moments of the tournament came with two tries coming in quick succession. Fazil Marija and Srinath Sooriyabandara, the veteran sevens players for the Tuskers were the catalysts creating the opportunities. First it was Marija with a speedy run through the Welsh defense off loading to some good support of Mithun Hapugoda which saw him go over, Conversion going astray scores read 33-5. Soori created the opportunity next with his usual magic deftly stepping through and once more finding the omnipresent Mithun Hapugoda who went under the post for an easy conversion as well took the score line to 33-12.
The Welsh got back behind the driving seat once again with Harries scoring his hat trick and Ross Jones joining the party to finish the game 47-12 winners.
