Wadduwa Central came back from a loss in the 1st exhibition game, to register a massive 67-run win against the National Youth Corps (NYC) at the Thurstan College grounds earlier today.
NYC won the toss and put the Wadduwa Central girls into bat. It turned out not to be a great decision as the opener for Wadduwa put on 85-runs for the 1st wicket. Prasadi Wijesinghe and Kavishka Roshanthi managed to slow things down but Wadduwa still ended with a good score – 147/4 in their 20 overs.
Nethmi Poorna top-scored with a stylish 55 off 46 deliveries.
With a steep total to chase, NYC were in deep trouble midway through their innings, losing their first 3 wickets for just 28 runs. There was no coming back from the horror start and they were bowled out for 80 in 19.4 overs.
Off spinner Nethmi Gunarathna was the star with the ball, finishing with incredible figures of 6/16 in a 4 over spell that included 18 dot balls.
