National Age Group – Artistic Swimming Championships 2022 organized by Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union was concluded last weekend, the 24th and 25th of September 2022 at Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex.
With stunning choreography to amazing music, Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo was able to win the National Age Group- Artistic Swimming Champions 2022 title with a total of 23 points.
A team of 10 Visakhians under the guidance of Coach Prabashi and Coach Yeshaya led the Visakha name to the top in rankings whilst Ladies’ College, Colombo finished as the runners-up with 17 points.
The Solo events of the competition for age group 12 and under, 13-15 years, Junior (15-18 years), and Open/Senior were won by Sandithi Ekanayake of Musaeus College, Piyushi Kulasekara of Visakha Vidyalaya, Nischka Nanayakkara and Tanalia Rekawa of Ladies’ College respectively.
The duet pair Piyushi Kulasekara and Manekha Gomez of Visakha Vidyalaya kept their names high in the 13-15 years age category duet event by winning with a total score of 114.3780 points. Lourdi Perera and Jithmi Perera of Aururo Synchro Club won the junior age category duet event with a total score of 111.7290.
The next event in the aquatic calendar, the National and Junior National Swimming Championships 2022 is scheduled to be held from the 4th to the 7th of October 2022 at the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex.
