Lumbini College took major honours in their drawn group B encounter against Ananda College in the Singer U19 Schools Cricket Tournament 2016/17 at Colts grounds today.
The hosts, chasing down Ananda’s first innings total of 130 were knocked over for 155 runs in 60 overs as they registered a first innings win. Skipper Thanuka Dabare accumulated 66 runs while seamer Chamika Gunasekara picked up a 3 wicket haul for the visitors in the 1st innings.
The Anandians were dismissed for 161 in 66 overs in their second essay. Supun Waragoda played a match saving knock of 58, while left-arm spinner Vimukthi Kulatunga was almost unplayable, picking up an 8-for to complete a match-bag of 11 for 95 runs.

St. Joseph’s College, Colombo registered a first innings win against the division one, joint-defending champions, St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa in their traditional game which ended in a draw today in Moratuwa.
The home team, resuming the second day on 109 for 3 came ever so close to making the target of 319 but the lads from Moratuwa were bundled out for 289 in 70.4 overs. Right-handed low-order batsman Tashik Perera scored an unbeaten half ton, while young leg-spinner Dineth Jayakody grabbed 4 wickets for 56 runs and right-arm quick Kavindu Jayathissa captured 3 scalps for the visitors.
The Josephians, batting second finished day two on 266 for 7 at close, with wicket-keeper batsman and Vice-Captain Shewon Fonseka scoring a blitzkrieg 83 runs off just 68 deliveries with 11 fours and 2 sixes while Vinuja Ranasinghe took 3 for 96 the hosts.

The visitors, resuming on 71 for 4 were bowled out for 133 as the left-arm spinner Dellon Pieris finished with a 5 wicket haul for the lads from Mount Lavinia as the Thomian skipper enforced the follow-on.

The visitors, resuming day two on 108 for 4, went on to post a reasonable 233 in 69.3 overs to register a first innings win. Rajitha Kotuwegoda stroked 61 runs, while Rukmal Dissanayake picked up 3 wickets for hosts. The Rajans were knocked over for 127 in 56 overs in their 2nd innings. The visitors then lost 6 wickets for 16 runs in 7 overs as the match ended in a thriller.

St. Aloysius College, Galle and Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda shared honours on day one in their Singer-cup group C game which began today at the Karandeniya MMV grounds.
The Sokians won the toss and invited the visitors to have first use of the wicket. They managed to bundle them out for 213 in 64.2 overs. Skipper Navindu Nirmal guided the Aloysians with an unbeaten 89 and Pasindu Nanayakkara chipped in with 44 valuable runs, while Lohan De Zoysa claimed 3 wickets for the hosts.
In reply, the Sokians made 115 for 4 wickets at close as Harshajith Roshan scored a half-ton and Niduka Malsith picked up 2 scalps.
