The national selectors have included uncapped top-order batsman Danushka Gunathilake, off-spinning all-rounder Shehan Jayasuriya & leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay for the forthcoming three-match ODI series against West Indies.

The left-handed batsman from SSC has been knocking on the national door since early 2014 but his excellent run of form in New Zealand with the Sri Lanka A has earned him a place in the squad.

Shehan Jayasuriya and Jeffrey Vandersay played T20 cricket for Sri Lanka against Pakistan few months ago but they also have been included for 50-over cricket due to their excellent performances in Kiwi land.

Danushka made 170 runs in 4 games with 2 half-centuries against New Zealand A. He scored 66 and 106 in two warm-up games against New Zealand Winter Training Squad. Jayasuriya picked up 6 wickets from the 4 games while Vandersay took a five-wicket haul in the first unofficial Test match.

Fast-bowling all-rounder Thisara Perera who was part of the Sri Lanka team for the whole of 2015 has been dropped from the side. Right-arm quick Dushmantha Chameera was also picked in the 15-man squad.

From the squad that was chosen to play against Pakistan in August, Sri Lanka left out Nuwan Pradeep, Sachith Pathirana, Seekkuge Prasanna, Ashan Priyanjan and Upul Tharanga.

Medium fast-bowler Nuwan Kulasekara makes a return into the ODI setup alongside recently awarded Best ODI Bowler, Ajantha Mendis who last played an international game in December 2014 against England.

The three-match series will start on 1st of November at R. Premadasa Stadium.
