Ladies’ College and Visakha Vidyalaya will battle it out for the championship title of the Under 19 Schools’ Tennis Championship as the final showdown is set to start at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts tomorrow.
Ladies’ College, who have already bagged the Under 15 and Under 17 titles, will need to step up their game to conquer the defending champions Visakha Vidyalaya. The reigning champions Visakha Vidyalaya will want to hold on to their under 19 silverware having lost the other two titles to Ladies’.
The four teams that made it to the semi-finals were Ladies’ College, Visakha Vidyalaya, Methodist College and Musaeus College. Methodist College provided a walkover in the semi-finals and Musaeus College came out second best to Visakha Vidyalaya in their encounter.
Visakha’s Nethmi Waduge & Hasindhi Lokuge will be key to the team’s success in the draw while Medhira Samarasinghe’s Ladies’ College will be sure to put up a strong fight in the final encounter. Play will begin at 8:00 a.m. at the SLTA center courts and the tie is expected to go down till the 3rd and final singles encounter.
The Boys’competition meanwhile is still in its group stages and is set to be completed by Monday the 18th of July 2016.
