The inter-school Kotmale Chox T20 U 19 T20 league took place at Darely Road yesterday with home team St Joseph’s managing a narrow win against St Benedict’s College in the pre-quarter final match.
Pathum Madushanka top scored for the Joes with 43 while vice-captain Arvindh Fernando ballooned the score with 24 runs. St Josephs ended their 20 overs on 135 for 9. Sumeera Sandamal for the Bens was on target scalping 3 wickets for 20 runs.
St Benedicts took up the challenge with a scintillating 60 runs in 42 balls by Madura Madusanka which included 7 fours and two towering sixes. However the wheels fell away for Bens and ended up just 4 runs short of the target of 135 when their innings closed at 131 for 9 in 20 overs. The bowling honours for St Joseph’s were shared by Priyamal Perera 3 wickets and Fabian Fernando and Sachin Hewawasam chipping in with 2 each.

In another encounter Paceman Chemila Obeysekera struck twice in the super-over for St. Peter’s College to record 12 runs victory over Lumbini College after the Inter School Under-19 Twenty-20 Tournament Pre-quarterfinal was tied (at 118 runs) at BRC Ground, Colombo.
