Left arm medium pacer Udeshika Prabodhini is set to miss the Sri Lanka Women’s tour of New Zealand as she was taken ill on the eve of the team’s departure.
Achini Kulasuriya was named as her replacement and left to New Zealand along with the other members of the squad yesterday.
Prabodhini will be sorely missed by the SL Team as she has proven herself to be a valuable contributor on the field, particularly in the T20 arena. She is currently ranked no. 5 in the ICC T20 bowlers’ rankings after a few impressive performances over the past couple of tours. She made her debut in 2009 and therefore is also one of the more experienced pace bowlers in the Sri Lankan lineup.
Achini Kulasuriya, a right arm medium pacer, who was named as Prabodhini’s replacement is yet to represent Sri Lanka at the top level but will probably win her 1st cap on this tour.
The tour will kick off on the 31st of October with the SL Women taking on the NZ Women’s A team, this will be followed by 5 ODIs and 3 T20s scheduled to take place in November.
