Sri Lanka U19 Women finished the U19 Women T20 Tri-Series 2024 on high by beating the New Zealand Development Women by 7 runs in a thrilling encounter.

Sri Lankan skipper Manudi Nananyakkara won the toss and opted to bat first in conditions that they believed to be batting-friendly. Skipper leading from the front led the batting inning from the front by top scoring for the islanders. Nanayakkara scored 41 which included five boundaries and one six. Vimoksha Balasuriya who is having a series to remember continued her good form with a 24 which took Sri Lanka to a respectable total of 110 at the end of their 20 overs.

In reply, the Kiwis were placed in a good position where they were 40 for the loss of 2 wickets. Due to some disciplined bowling in the middle phase of the innings by the Sri Lankan bowlers the New Zealanders fell 7 runs short of their target. Chamodi Perera and Pramudi Methsara grabbed 2 wickets a piece in the process.

Sri Lanka placed second in the table after the completion of all the games courtesy of the two victories against the New Zealand Development Women.

The ODI edition of this Tri-Series will commence on the coming 30th of September where Sri Lanka is due to face the Australia U19 Women for the opening game.
