The first Quarter-Final of the SLSCA U19 Division 1 – Tier A Cricket Tournament 2021/2022 was played today between Nalanda College and De Mazenod College at S. Thomas’ College Grounds, Mount Lavinia.
Having being asked to bat first, Nalanda College were bundled out for just 120 runs in 34 overs. The De Mazenod bowlers kept pressure on the Nalanda batters from ball number one. Sajitha Vithanage, who made an unbeaten 33 runs off 66 balls with 2 fours and a six, was the only Nalandian batter who showed some resistance with the bat.

In the bowling front, it was Senash Fernando of De Mazenod College who was the most impressive bowler of the lot as he bagged 4 wickets for 22 runs in his 10-over spell.
De Mazenod College cruised to the target with ease as they crossed over the line with 8 wickets in hand. The opening batter Ruvin Fonseka top-scored with a knock of 51 runs off 114 balls with 3 fours, being the pioneer of De Mazenod run-chase.
