Three traditional encounters of Schools U19 Division 1 Tournament commenced today (28th February) at Matara, Jaffna and Kandy.
Tharushka Ashel’s century headlines the traditional encounter between Isipathana College and St. Servatius’ College, which commenced today at Uyanwatta Stadium, Matara. After been asked to bat first, Isipathana College ended the first day’s play at 244/7.
Apart from Ashel’s match defining century (123*), Yuneth Seneviratne starred with the bat, scoring 78 runs for Isipathana College.
Thomas’ College were stuttering at 75/5 at stumps on day one, replying to St. John’s College’s first innings total of 132 runs. The traditional encounter between the two sides commenced today at St. John’s College Ground, Jaffna.
St. Anthony’s College were in a dominant position against Kingswood College at the end of the first day’s play of their traditional encounter at St. Anthony’s College Ground, Kandy.
Chandimal Herath’s brilliant century steered the Antonians to a commanding total on the board for their first innings. In reply, the boys from Kandy struggled with the bat as they posted 88/7 before the umpires called stumps on day one.
