Three games of the SLSCA U19 Div 1 Schools Cricket Tournament 2022 came to a close today (18). St. Joseph’s College and Wesley College met in a Traditional encounter at Darley Road.

Nalanda College grabbed the group topper’s seat with a 23-run win over the Royalists today. This is their 4th straight win in the tournament. Skipper Dineth Samaraweera and the Sri Lanka U19s star Raveen de Silva bagged 2 wickets each. Royal fell 23 runs short despite Sadisha Rajapaksha’s half-century.
Richmond College demonstrated their stronghold in the tournament with another comfortable win over St. Anne’s College. Their Sri Lanka U19s coloursman, Malsha Tharupathi, bagged 4 scalps today to post his first noteworthy performance of the tournament. With this win, Richmond have now won all three games they have played in the tournament so far.

Tharusha Nethsara of Isipathana College hit a match-winning hundred to earn a massive 140-run victory for his alma mater against St. Servatius’ College.
Kevin Samuel of Isipathana College became the highest wicket-taker of the tournament so far with a match bag of 6 for 21. He now tops the chart with 14 wickets to his name in 4 matches.

St. Joseph’s College played Wesley College in a traditional encounter at the Maradana school’s grounds.
Josephian Vice-Captain Sadeesh Jayawardena brought up a stylish hundred to take the home team to a mountainous score of 404 runs.
He was ably supported by the fresher Muditha Lakshan, who scored a valuable 94 runs. Hiran Jayasundera added another 77 runs more to this tally, while Mithira Thenura was unbeaten with 51 runs to his name.
The Wesleyites were on 45 for 1 at close of play.
