Four matches of the U19 Division 1 Limited Overs Tournament worked off today (09th March) at several venues across the island.
St. Joseph’s College registered their 2nd win of the tournament as they defeated St. Thomas College by 7 wickets today. Sri Lanka U19 capped Shevon Daniel’s eye-catching 66-ball 72 runs which included 4 fours and 5 sixes was the highlight of the match.
Sakuna Nidarshana who played for Sri Lanka U19s in the recently concluded ICC U19 World Cup, played a brilliant ton representing Lumbini College but he couldn’t guide his team over the finishing line as Isipathana College recorded a 15-run victory.
Nidarshana who stroked 104 runs off 108 balls with 13 fours and 3 sixes was in full flow with the bat for Lumbini College. Randunu Ganganath (39), Tharusha Nethsara (36), Kevin Samuel (2/28) and Sithuka Gunawardana (2/30) were the chief architects of Isipathana’s victory.

Meanwhile, St. Anthony’s College completely dominated their encounter against strong S. Thomas’ College defeating them by 7 wickets. It was all about Antonian Chamindu Wickramasinghe’s all-round skills as he delivered with both bat and ball registering a match-winning half-ton while picking up a 4-wicket haul.
The all-round skills of Ashen De Soyza guided St. Benedict’s College to a 16-run win over St. Sebastian’s College. De Soyza’s blistering knock of 72 runs off 57 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes set up the victory for Bens which was followed by a match-winning spell of 3 wickets for 25 runs.
