Three traditional encounters of the Schools U19 Division 1 Tournament worked off this week, with all of them ending as draws.
Ananda College took the honors in the drawn traditional encounter against Dharmaraja College. Ayesh Sashimal of Ananda College was the standout performer of the match as he shone with the ball, taking an 8-wicket haul in the second innings of Dharmaraja College.
St. Sebastian’s College almost snatched an outright victory against St. Peter’s College in their first XI encounter, worked off at St. Sebastian’s College Ground, Moratuwa. After being 85 runs behind in the first innings, the lads from Moratuwa fought back to put the visitors in trouble with a better performance with both bat and bowl in the second innings.

Nilash Perera (74) and Sandeesh Fernando (5/80) stole the limelight, putting up excellent performances for St. Sebastian’s College. The other traditional encounter played between St. Benedict’s College and Isipathana College also ended in a draw.
Pasan Suwahas lit up Benedict’s College Grounds, scoring half centuries in both innings for the home side.
