Nethma, Tehaan & Shakthi star as Ananda takes upper hand on day one

Two traditional encounters of the U19 Schools Cricket Tournament commenced today (03rd June) at Mount Lavinia and Moratuwa.    

Ananda College took on St. Sebastian’s College at Moratuwa, where they dominated first day’s play against the hosts. Having been asked to bat first, the visitors were bowled out for 202 runs, with the left-hander Nethma Karunarathne top-scoring with a knock of 77 runs.

In reply, the Sebastian batters displayed a poor show with the bat as Tehaan Perera (4/16) and Shakthi Udara (3/13) ran through their batting lineup, sharing 7 wickets between them. The hosts were asked to follow on and they made 39 runs 2 wickets for their second innings at the close of play on day two.

The Thurstan College bowlers managed to restrict the strong batting lineup of S. Thomas College for 182 runs in their traditional encounter, which began today at Mount Lavinia. In reply, Thurstan College posted 23/1 at stumps on day one.
