Seven 2-day matches in the U19 Schools Cricket Tournament were held today (28th February) at various venues, with a few matches unfortunately being interrupted by rain.
The Tier ‘B’ 2-day encounter between Maris Stella College & Dharmapala College was held today at Dharmapala College Grounds in Pannipitiya.
Kaveen Fernando, who was the chief scorer with 92 runs, was able to give Maris Stella a good start, while Ramith Bandara scored 83 as they posted 336 runs for their 1st innings.
In reply, the Dharmapala batters fell cheaply for 90 runs & had to follow on. However, they were once again unable to show good Cricket as they were all out for 169. Ramith Bandara was the pick of the bowlers with his match bag of 7 wickets, while Shean Adithya & Hasthika De Silva bagged 6 scalps apiece in the match as Maris Stella registered an innings win.
