Two traditional encounters of the U19 Inter-Schools Cricket Tournament were played today (17th November) at Kandana and Ambalangoda.

Maliyadeva College registered a 4-wicket win over Dharmasoka College in their traditional encounter worked off today at UC Grounds in Ambalangoda.

After restricting Dharmasoka College for 130 runs yesterday, the visitors began their first essay with the bat today and managed to put on 172 runs taking a valuable 42-run first-innings lead. Gayana Weerasinghe and Ushan Bimsara were the chief scorers for the lads from Kurunegala as both scored half-centuries.

In their turn with the ball, Maliyadeva College once again displayed an exceptional bowling performance to restrict the opposition to 140 runs which meant the visitors had to chase down only 99 runs to win the match.

Dimath Abeysingha who picked up a 5-wicket haul in the first innings, wrecked Dharmasoka batting lineup once again taking 6 wickets for just 37 runs in the second innings taking his match tally to 11 for 67.

In the run-chase, Maliyadeva College faced some hiccups in the middle but finally managed to get over the line with 4 wickets in hand.

The traditional encounter between De Mazenod College and St. Anne’s College commenced today at De Mazenod Sport Complex Grounds. After been put into bat first the hosts managed to take control on day one posting 295 runs for 9 wickets on the board.
