Tharana Wimaladarma’s brilliant bowling performance helped Trinity College register an innings win over Gurukula College in their Tier ‘A’ Two Day encounter that ended today (16th December) at Asgiriya International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.

Having posted 256 runs for their first innings, Trinity bowlers managed to restrict Gurukula College to just 109 runs. Wimaladarma was the chief wrecker with the ball as he took 3 scalps for 18 runs.

After been asked to follow on, the boys from Kelaniya once again faltered with the bat this time being bowled out for 109 runs handing an innings win for the hosts. Wimaladarma stood out with another brilliant bowling effort taking 8 wickets for 26 runs taking his match tally to 11 wickets for 44 runs.

Royal College displayed a dominating performance against D.S. Senanayake College on day one of their Tier ‘A’ two-day encounter played today at Royal College Grounds. Dasis Manchanayake’s brilliant bowling spell (5 for 10) restricted to D.S. Senanayake batting lineup to just 137.

In reply, the hosts showcased a much better batting exhibition posting 193/3 at the stumps on day one. Ramiru Perera and Rehan Peiris starred with the bat scoring half-centuries for Royal College.

Ananda College managed to take the honors on the first day’s play of the Tier ‘B’ two-day encounter against St. Joseph Vaz College commenced today at Katunayake. Ayesh Shashimal and Ashinsa Nainayake bowled impressive spells for Ananda College as they managed to restrict the opposition for just 156 runs in their first innings.

In reply, Ananda College posted 111/3 at stumps on day one. Viduna Wijebandara stamped his authority with the bat scoring an excellent half-century.

Meanwhile, S. Thomas’ College registered a convincing innings win over St. John’s College in their traditional encounter worked off today at Mount Lavinia. Akash Fernando stole the limelight in this encounter taking a match bag of 9 wickets for 27 runs for the victorious Thomians.
