Fourteen games of the ongoing Schools First-XI Cricket Tournament were worked off across the two tiers today (13), all around the island.

Pawan Sandesh’s brilliant century guided Devapathiraja College to a convincing win over Dharmaraja College in a Tier B encounter ended today at MRICS, Hambantota. Having restricted Dharmaraja College to 157, Devapathiraja College cruised to the target in just 27 overs with 5 wickets in hand. Number 3 batter Sandesh stroked unbeaten 101 runs off 87 balls with 11 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 116.09.

Ananada College suffered an unexpected defeat at the hands of St. Servatius College in a Tier B encounter worked off today at Ananda College Grounds in Colombo. Mithila Minsara (81), Diniru Abeywickramasinghe (63) and Thisan Dewmith (5/24) were the chief architects of St. Servatius College’s stunning win.

Sri Lanka U19 cap speedster Duvindu Ranatunga who plays for Mahanama College bowled a fiery bowling spell against St. Benedict’s College batting lineup in their Tier A encounter played today at Army Grounds, Mattegoda. Ranatunga picked up 5 wickets for just 23 runs in his 9-over spell which helped his side restrict the Bens to just 86 runs.

Royal College registered a comprehensive 8-wicket win over St. Anne’s College thanks to a brilliant all-round show from Sineth Jayawardene. He starred with the bat scoring an eye-catching century while picking up 4 wickets with the ball.

Wesley College’s opening batter Chamath Gomez was the star of the day with the bat as he smashed a blistering century against De Mazenod College. Gomez stroked 150 runs off 104 balls with 10 fours and 10 sixes with a staggering strike rate of 144.23.
