A traditional encounter in the U19 Schools Cricket Tournament came to an end today (12th March) at Moratuwa with Gurukula College claiming a 4-wicket win against Prince of Wales.
Disappointingly, Prince Of Wales College was blown away for 113 runs in the 2nd innings, setting a target of 148 runs for Gurukula’s victory. Sumalka Fernando was their chief scorer with a 42-run knock while Tharusha Dilsara bagged 3/40 with the ball.

After losing the 1st innings, Gurukula performed far better while chasing 148. Skipper Poorna Kalhara wanted to take his side as soon as possible, scoring a 17-ball 25. After losing six wickets, they got over the line in 45.2 overs. In the bowling department, Achala Perera was the lone warrior for Prince of Wales, claiming another fifer as he did in the first innings and finished with 10/60 in the entire match.
