Seven 2-day encounters of the U19 Inter-Schools Cricket Tournament were played today (11th January) at several venues across the island.
St. Peter’s College registered a crushing 10-wicket win over Dharmaraja College in their Tier ‘B’ two-day encounter that ended today at St. Peter’s College Grounds in Colombo.
After being 69/4 at the stumps on day one, the visitors were bowled out for just 150 runs in their first innings. Shennon Rodrigo was the star performer with the ball for the hosts as he took 5 wickets for 26 runs. Vishen Helambage also supported him at the other end picking up 3 wickets for 30 runs.

After been asked to follow on, the boys from Kandy once again faltered with the bat being bowled out for 115 runs. Helambage who picked up 3 wickets in the first innings bettered his figures in the second innings claiming 5 scalps taking his match tally into 8 wickets for 84 runs.
De Mazenod College recorded a 7-wicket win over St. Joseph Vaz College in their traditional encounter worked off today at De Mazenod College Grounds in Kandana.
Kavindu Kaushalya’s brilliant bowling effort and Sithum Fernando’s all-round brilliance helped the hosts clinch this convincing win. Kaushalya starred with the ball in both innings taking a match bag of 7 wickets for 50 runs. Fernando stroked crucial 35 runs with the bat in the hosts’ first innings while picking up a match bag of 5 wickets for 80 runs for the victorious De Mazenod College.
Richmond College claimed first innings points in a closely fought drawn Tier ‘A’ two-day encounter against S. Thomas’ College today at S. Thomas’ College Grounds in Mount Lavinia.
In reply to Richmond’s first innings score of 249, the hosts posted 248 on the board falling just 1 run of the visitors’ total. Mahith Perera and Nathan Caldera were the chief scorers for the hosts as they brought up half-centuries.
Thamindu Pradeeptha who starred with the bat scoring a brilliant century yesterday, showcased his abilities with the ball claiming 3 wickets for 62 runs for the Richmondites.
