The Final of the U19 Division 1 Tier B competition commenced today between St. Servatius’ College, Matara and Maris Stella College, Negombo at Kirimandala Mawatha Cricket Grounds.

After having won the toss, St. Servatius’ College wanted to bat first. However, St. Servatius’ were unable to get the start they would have been hoping for as they lost 5/86, with Denuwan Pramod scoring 36.

Diniru Abeywickramasinghe and Skipper Chiran Neththaru also fell in the 30’s before Viran Chamuditha’s fighting half-century took them to a respectable position, as St. Servatius’ College bowled out for 199. Maris Stella opening bowler Hasindu Perera was the star performer with the ball as he register a superb fifer.

When the stumps having been called on Day 1, the Maris Stella openers batted for 4 overs and were able to add 14 runs as well.
