Three games of the Singer U19 Division I Cricket tournament ended today, with Royal College and Zahira College registering wins.
Royal made a strong comeback against De Mazenod College today, their final day of their Group A encounter, with the hosts Royal registering a win after conceding a first innings lead of 28. After being bundled out for 155 resuming their overnight score of 100/6, Royal managed to restrict De Mazenod’s 2nd innings to 91 with the help of a match-winning 5-wicket haul by left-arm spinner Gishan Balasooriya. They then chased down the required target within 30 overs, losing just 1 wicket with an unbeaten half-century by star batsman Kamil Mishara.
Zahira College recorded a rare win over Lumbini College, who are also having an unforgettable season, in Maradana today. After finishing their 1st innings with a healthy lead of 77, the Zahirians were able to bundle out the hapless Lumbini boys for 125 in 42.1 overs, as Mohamed Mahdhi’s left-arm spin handed them 5 wickets. Zahira then reached their target with no fuss, losing just 1 wicket.

St. Peter’s then spent some quality batting time in the traditional affair, compiling 264/7 in the 2nd innings with half-tons for Rishika Santhush, Kanishka Maduwantha and Niman Umesh.
