Six matches in the Singer Schools ‘Under 19 Division 1’ Two Day Cricket Tournament 2019/20 were conducted today (07).
All 3 matches which concluded were done so as drawn contests, but Prince of Wales’ College almost pulled off an unlikely win over Moratu Maha Vidyalaya, however, couldn’t complete the win as they satisfied with a first innings victory.

Cambrian Kavinda De Mel picked up a match haul of 8 wickets, but he and the team failed to break the 9th wicket stand of Moratu Vidyalaya’s 2nd innings. Opposition bowler Vinura Nipun also picked up a 5-fer in the 1st innings but his team’s batsmen failed in both innings.
St Anne’s vs Dharmapala battle also took place in Kurunagala, as Dharmapala College earned the first-innings lead by a slender margin. Right arm seamer Lakshitha Purasinghe shone with the ball as he chipped in with 7 wickets for Dharmapala College in the match while St Anne’s off-spinner Manan Muzammil also picked up a 5-fer.
Two giants from South clashed at Galle ICS as Matara St Thomas College met Richmondites in a Group D fixture, Thomians grabbing more honors. The boys from Matara managed to bowl out Richmond College for 113, securing a first-innings lead of 80 runs.
The game ended in a draw but to the delight of Richmondites’ Sri Lanka national captain Dilum Sudeera who just returned from South Africa, who made his impact felt right away with a 5-fer in the 2nd innings.
