Two traditional encounters of the 2019/20 Division I schools cricket season were worked off today in Colombo.

Pavan Rathnayake playing for Mahanama College in his club ground, CCC, became the fourth double centurion from Division I Schools this season. Continuing his overnight score of 168, Rathnayake helped Mahanama finish their first innings on 320 before their bowlers led by left-arm spinner Devindu Kekirideniya bundled out the Cambrians for just 85 runs. The visitors were once again made to sweat in the field as Rathnayake and the Mahanama top order scored 165 runs for the 2nd innings in just 30.1 overs. Rathnayake finished the day unbeaten on 100 with an aggregate of 300 in the two days, unbeaten. He also reached 1000 runs during his double century in the first innings yesterday.
Thurstan College hosting Dharmapala College in their home ground were too good for the boys from Pannipitiya as they lost 14 wickets in the opening day. Taking control of the traditional affair on day 1 itself, Thurstan scored 248 in just 48 overs after bundling out the visitors for 56. The only shining light for Dharmapala on the day was off-spinner Dinith Nelumdeniya who picked up 7 wickets.
