Devapathiraja College and Mahinda College qualified for the Final of U19 Schools Tier B Limited Over Cricket Tournament as they defeated Dharmasoka College and Ananda College respectively in the Semi-Final encounters worked off today at Colombo. Meanwhile, the 22nd Hill Country Battle of the Golds played between Sri Sumangala College and Sri Rahula College ended in a draw today at Kandy.
Devapathiraja College, Rathgama vs Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda
After been put in to bat first, Devapathiraja batsmen couldn’t post a big score on the board as they were bowled out for a modest total of 200 runs in 48.3 overs. Jeewaka Shasheen was outstanding with the bat for Devapathiraja as he made 103 runs off 121 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes.
Imanthaka Rajapaksha and Lohan de Zoysa were impressive with the ball for Sokians as they picked up 2 wickets each.

Though the target of 201 seems easy to chase, it wasn’t to be the case for Dharmasoka batsmen as they struggled with the bat and bowled out for 160 runs handing a 40-run victory for Devapathiraja.
The skipper de Zoysa tried his best with the bat alone making an unbeaten 67 runs off 86 with 3 fours and 3 sixes. Irushka Thimira and Jeewaka Shasheen bagged 3 wickets each for victorious Devapathiraja.

Mahinda College, Galle vs Ananda College, Colombo
The second Semi-Final encounter between Mahinda College and Ananda College hampered by rain thus the match was reduced to a 23-over affair. Mahinda College batsmen were invited to take the first lease of the wicket in the rain-curtailed game but they showed a brilliant batting display putting on 196 for 7 in the 23 overs.
Kavidu Lakshan played a quickfire knock of 60 runs off 38 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes while experienced campaigner Navod Paranavithana stroked 52 runs off 34 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes.

Chasing 197 runs in 23 overs at a run rate of 8.56 was always going to be a tough task for any team and it was no different to Ananda College as they managed to get only 124 runs all out in 20.4 overs. The off-spinner Kavidu Lakshan stood out with the ball for Mahinda taking 5 scalps for 18 runs.

Sri Rahula College had a terrible day with the bat as they made just 114 runs for their first innings in reply to the score of 208 put on by Sri Sumangala College in their first innings.
Malaka Samaranayaka and Thineera Akalanka were the chief destroyers with the ball for Sumangala as they shared 7 wickets among them. Sri Sumangala College began their second innings with a 94-run lead but didn’t have the best of outings in the second essay as they were shot out for 115 in 50.4 overs.

Dilshan Arambegoda and Thilanka Kumarathunga of Sri Rahula College were the standout performers with the ball as they picked up 6 wickets and 4 wickets respectively.
