St. Thomas take upper hand on day two

The 121st Southern Battle of the Blues played between St. Servatius’ College and St. Thomas’ College continued for the second day at Hambantota, while two more traditional encounters of the Schools U19 Cricket Tournament were played at different venues across the island.

St. Servatius’ College, Matara vs St. Thomas’ College, Matara  

St. Thomas’ College managed to take the upper hand on day two against St. Servatius’ College in the 121st battle of the Blues played at Hambantota. The Skipper Hirantha Lakshan’s unbeaten century put the Thomians in a commanding position at stumps on day two. 

St. Thomas’ College posted 202 for 3 in reply to the score of 253 made by St. Servatius’ for their first innings. Lakshan stroked 109 runs off 138 balls with 11 fours and a six.

St. Sylvester’s College, Kandy vs Dharmaraja College, Kandy  

The traditional encounter between St. Sylvester’s College and Dharmaraja College also ended in a draw today at Kandy. Though St. Sylvester’s College took the major honors in the drawn encouter, the Dharmaraja opening batsman Sachintha Dissanayaka stole the show with a magnificant century. Dissanayaka’s 100 runs came off 190 balls, including 11 fours and a six.
