Four games of Singer U19 Division 1 Cricket Tournament 2019/20 were played today, 22nd January 2020.
St. Thomas’ College, Matara vs Lumbini College, Colombo
After winning the toss the Thomian skipper decided his boys will take the first lease of the crease. Nipun Samarasinghe led the batting for St. Thomas’ College with a vital half-century setting the pace of the game. Lumbini’s frontline spinner Yasiru Yugath is the man in charge of the counter-attack who picked up 5 wickets for 86 runs. The right-arm offie Thashika Nirmal bowled well in tandem with Yugath picking up 4 wickets for 47 runs.
Sachith Rashmika rattled the Lumbini batsmen in no time as he wrote a fifer to his name. He was well assisted by Sineth Sithara who bagged 3 scalps. Lumbini College was shot out for 95 runs. The follow on which was enforced and Lumbini College didn’t have any luck in the second-innings either. Sithara brought up his fifer which he missed out in the first innings. His five-wicket haul helped St. Thomas’ bundle out Lumbini College for 135 runs.
A 26-run target was set for the Thomians which they duly went surpassed with ease.

Royal College, Colombo vs D.S. Senanayake College, Colombo
This group ‘A’ fixture is being worked off at Army grounds in Panagoda. The toss went in favour of D.S. Senanayake College who opted to bat first. The senior-most campaigner of the team Tiron Baskaran played a stellar knock worth 97 runs to put D.S ahead in the contest. Left-arm spinner from Royal college, Gishan Balasooriya was the pick of the bowling who ended the innings with 5 for 43. D.S. Senanayake College was in a comfortable position scoring 213 runs in 53.5 overs.
By end of the play, Royal College was in an uncomfortable position with 130 runs on board for the loss of 5 wickets. Sithira Weerasinghe remained unbeaten at the crease with 45 runs while Saniru Dissanayake led the bowling column with 3 wickets to his name.

Maris Stella College, Negombo vs De Mazenod College, Kandana
Maris Stella College who is hosting De Mazenod College in a tournament fixture at Kadirana grounds in Negombo won the toss and opted to bat first. The stay at the crease was very brief for Maris Stella as they were bowled out for 112 runs in 26 overs. Pramod Rajamunindra was the man responsible for the chaos in the Maris Stella line up as he picked up 5 wickets for 27 runs.
Mazenod skipper Nimna Fernando topped the batting card for De Mazenod as he scored a well-made half-century. Thilina Perera led the bowling for Maris Stella with a fifer to his name as De Mazenod ended their innings with 174 runs on the board.
14 overs were played in the Maris Stella second-innings in which the boys from Negombo scored 49 runs for the loss of wickets. Skipper Naveen Fernando was at the crease with 29 runs to his name.
