Six matches of the Singer Schools ‘Under 19 Division 1’ Two Day Cricket Tournament 2019/20 were played today across the island.
Shevon and Sheran blasts tons vs Ananda
St. Joseph’s College registered a comprehensive innings victory over Ananda College in the traditional encounter between the two sides, which worked off today at St. Joseph’s College Grounds in Colombo. Shevon Daniel and Sheran Fonseka starred with the bat, while off-spinner Ashain Daniel (5/50) and right-arm seamer Johanne De Zilva (6/36) starred with the ball, playing a role in the Joes’ victory.
St. Thomas’ College, Matara and St. Anthony’s College, Kandy managed to secure places in the Quarter Finals of the tournament as they defeated D. S. Senanayake College, Colombo and Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala respectively in the Pre Quarter Finals. The off-spinner Abishek Anandakumar picked up 6 wickets for 79 runs, helping Trinity College take honors in the drawn traditional encounter against S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia.
In the other two traditional encounters, Zahira College managed to register innings victory over Kingswood College, while the encounter between Gurukula College and Moratu Maha Vidyalaya ended in a draw today at Moratuwa.
