Mahinda College defeated St. Peter’s College by 6 wickets and qualified for the Quarterfinals of the Singer Schools ‘Under 19 Division 1’ Cricket Tournament 2018/19.

After being on 93 runs for 5 wickets at overnight, Mahinda College was bowled out for 124 runs in their first innings. Hansika Welihinda top scored with a knock of 72 runs for the Galle boys. Shivan Perera was the pick of the bowlers for the Peterites as he grabbed 3 wickets for 41 runs in his spell.

St. Peter’s College began their second innings 19 runs ahead but made only 115 runs as Kushan Madusha ripped through their batting line up by picking up 6 wickets for 46 runs. Mahinda College chased down the target of 135 runs in 28.1 overs with 6 wickets remaining.

Sri Lanka U19 cap Navod Paranavithana (33) and Kanishka Kodithuwakku (33) chipped in with useful contributions with the bat to guide the lads from Galle to cement a place in one of the quarterfinals of the tournament.
