Anuga Jayaweera (94), Janindu Jayawardana (83*) and Kanishka Ranthilakage (54) stroked half centuries with the bat as Ananda College took honors in the drawn encounter against Dharmasoka College in the Singer Schools ‘Under 19 Division 1’ Two Day Cricket Tournament 2019/20 which worked off today at Colombo. Another encounter between Mahinda College and Maliyadeva College commenced today at Maliyadeva College Grounds in Kurunegala.
Ananda College, Colombo vs Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda
The traditional encounter between Ananda College and Dharmasoka College ended in a draw today at Ananda College Grounds in Colombo. After being 116 runs for 3 wickets overnight, Ananda College batsmen applied a more disciplined batting display today as they posted a mammoth 342 runs on the board before declaring the innings in the 70th over.
Anuga Jayaweera who remained unbeaten at the crease yesterday made a well compiled 94 runs while the left hander Janindu Jayawardana stroked an unbeaten 83 runs for the hosts. Maleesha Rashmika (3/67), Chamindu Dilshan (2/59) and Supun Madushanka (2/77) shone with the ball for the visitors.
The Dharmasoka College batsmen began their second innings 105 runs behind and managed to pile 216 runs for 6 wickets on the board at the close of play on day two. The 18-year old left handed batsman Chamindu Dilshan stroked a magnificent 99 runs for the visitors though he unfortunately missed out a well deserved century.

The traditional between Maliyadeva College and Mahinda College commenced today at Maliyadeva College Grounds in Kurunegala. After winning the toss, the hosts’ skipper opted to bat first but a poor batting display saw them being bowled out for 139 runs in 51.2 overs.
Gayan Weerasinghe (39) and Jayamin Muthukumarana (38*) were the top scorers for the hosts. The 17-year old left arm leg spinner Kushan Madusha was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors as he grabbed 4 scalps for 32 runs. In addition, left arm leg spinner Chethiya Gunasekara bowled well taking 2 scalps for 36 runs.
In reply, the visitors were also in trouble with the bat as they posted 122 runs for 6 wickets at stumps on day one. The right handed batsman Sandev Induwara was the star with the bat for Mahinda College as he added an unbeaten 48 runs to his name. The 17-year old left arm leg spinner Sakindu Wijerathne starred with the ball for the hosts taking 4 scalps for 31 runs on home soil. Match will continue tomorrow for day two.
