Nalanda College, Colombo visited St. Peter’s College, Colombo to battle out their group ‘B’ fixture of the Singer U19 Division one Cricket tournament 2018/19.
The host won the toss and invited Nalanda College to bat first. The skipper, Lakshitha Rasanjana led the batting for Nalanda College with a lone 78 runs. Nalanda College was able to post 241 runs for the first innings. Santhush Gunathilake was the pick of the bowlers for his 3 wickets for 10 runs.
In reply, St. Peter’s put up a wonderful show with the bat as they racked up 302 runs for their first innings. Bhanuka de Silva (80), Santhush Gunathilake (79) and Shivan Perera (69*) were the largest blocks which built that huge total for St. Peter’s College. Young Raveen de Silva was the only man whom St. Peter’s struggled against as he bagged 6 wickets for 75 runs. The game saw a bit of batting again from Nalanda College through a tiny passage of play, after which, the game was called a draw.
