Royal College, Colombo vs St. Joseph’s College, Colombo
The traditional fixture between Royal College and St. Joseph’s College ended in a draw today at St. Joseph’s College Grounds. The hosts’ overnight batsmen Johanne de Zilva and Sheron Fonseka resumed the innings at 36 runs but the former was dismissed for 20 runs in the second over of the day. The number three batsman Shevon Daniel was caught behind in the very next over for nought.

At 44 for 2, Dineth Jayakody and Sheron Fonseka met at the crease and built a 65-run partnership for the third wicket before the latter was dismissed for 53 runs in the 25th over. Dineth Jayakody top scored for Joes with a knock of 73 runs including 10 fours and 3 sixes. After their dismissals, there were no significant contributions with the bat made by the lower order as the hosts declared the innings at 240 runs for 8 wickets.
The Royal College batsmen got off to a poor start in the second innings as they lost three wickets for just 8 runs within the first 8 overs. However, in-form batsman Pasindu Sooriyabandara (47) and Kavindu Pathirathne (42) showed great resistance with the bat until the close of play in day two. Left arm spinner Shalinda Senevirathne who starred in the first innings with a 6-wicket haul, picked up another 3 wickets for 45 runs in 16 overs with 4 maidens.

Ananda College, Colombo vs Wesley College, Colombo
Ananda College managed to take honors in their Group D fixture against Wesley College which concluded today at Wesley College Grounds in Colombo. After being 288 runs for 8 wickets overnight, the Anandian tail-enders added a valuable 66 runs for the remaining 2 wickets.
In reply, the Wesley College batsmen could not go past the visitor’s score as they were bowled out for 259 runs in their first innings. Kavindana Perera stroked a magnificent knock of 95 runs for the hosts. Lakshitha Amarasekara was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts with figures of 3 wickets for 46 runs.

Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa vs De Mazenod College, Kandana
The Group B fixture between Prince of Wales College and De Mazenod College commenced today at Prince of Wales College Grounds in Moratuwa. The Cambrian skipper Suwath Mendis won the toss and decided to take the first lease of the wicket and posted 335 runs for 4 wickets before declaring the innings. The skipper himself shone with the bat scoring a valuable 84 runs for the hosts.
In reply, the visitors were bundled out for just 69 runs with Cambrian skipper Mendis shining with the ball picking up 4 wickets for 31 runs. After being asked to follow on, De Mazenod College openers played out three maiden overs when umpires called stumps on day one.
