Mahinda College managed to qualify for the Quarter Finals of the Singer Schools ‘Under 19 Division 1’ Limited Over Cricket Tournament as they defeated St. Thomas’ College today at Uyanwattha Stadium in Matara. After winning the toss, St. Thomas’ College chose to bat first but posted only 106 runs in 31.2 overs.
The left-arm spinner Kushan Madusha and Kavindu Lakshan excelled with the ball taking 3 scalps each for Mahinda College. Chasing 107 runs to win, the visitors lost quick wickets but the experienced left-hander Navod Paranavithana (69) stood calm and guided his side to victory in 22.4 overs.
