Three Tier A encounters, four Tier B encounters and a traditional match of Schools U19 Cricket tournament held today (7th April) at different venues across the island.
De Mazenod College, Royal College and Trinity College managed to register wins in the three Tier A matches held today. Lester Jayaweera of De Mazenod College and Abishek Liyanaarachchi of D. S. Senanayake College stood out with the bat scoring brilliant centuries.

St. Anthony’s College, Wattla, St. Peter’s College, Thurstan College and Isipathana College recorded victories in the four Tier B encounters worked off today. Danaja Silva’s century for Thurstan College was the star performer with the bat in the Tier B matches.
Meanwhile, Sithuka Gunawardana of Isipathana College demolished the strong batting lineup of Ananda College taking 5 scalps for just 15 runs with the ball.
The only traditional encounter held today was played between S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia and S. Anthony’s College, Kandy. The hosts Thomians put on 262 runs for 8 wickets at stumps on day one.
The right-hander Ryan Fernando top-scored with an elegant century for the hosts. The left-arm spinner Nimnaka Jayathilaka starred with the ball for the visitors picking up 4 wickets for 64 runs.
